Audiovisuals created for the new season of Squish Space at the Barbican
Commission
Barbican Learning commissioned Di to collaborate with sound artist Xavier Velastin to create some audiovisuals for the launch of a new season of Squish Space – a free creative play space created by artist/designer duo India Harvey and Lisa Marie Bengtsson, that brings people together to learn through interaction, collaboration and play. Using a variety of materials and tactile objects.
Audiovisuals
Under Over, explores the mysterious world beneath our feet. The film imagines the journey of sugars and nutrients as they travel through a network of roots and mycelium beneath the ground. The visuals were projected on the wall at Squish Space as part of an installation that was inspired by the Barbican’s exhibition “Our Time on Earth” an immersive exploration of radical ideas for the way we live. Where technology brings us closer to nature, and indigenous insight reconnects us to our roots. Enter the story of our future, with perspectives spanning art, science, activism – and more.
