THE WAKING SLEEP

Delia Derbyshire Day

Live performance composed and performed by Architects of Rosslyn scoring a collage of Di’s films for Delia Derberyshire Day.

Commission

Manchester-based duo Architects of Rosslyn (comprised of producer-composer Mandy Wigby and composer-musician Howard Jacobs) were commissioned by Delia Derbyshire Day Festival to create a live soundtrack inspired by the archive of legendary electronic musician Delia Derbyshire.  The pair composed a live score to accompany a ‘dream sequence’ collage of Di’s films.

Film

The first performance of The Waking Sleep was performed by Mandy and Howie at HOME, Manchester in January 2016.  The Waking Sleep includes extracts of Di’s films: Words and Numbers, Shuttleflock, Hollipophead, Atmospheric Railway, and Human Harp on Clifton Suspension Bridge. The Waking Sleep has since been performed at the British Library, Festival no.7 in Wales, and the Bluedot Festival at Jodrell Bank.
